JSTOR importfilter

The references can be imported directly (no import filter is needed!; only applicable for Windows users!) into a Reference Manager database. Users of other operating systems have to use an import filter. The importing procedure for both operating systems users is described in the following table.

To use the Save, Email, etc. options, you have to register (one time registration)!

Direct import

  • Make your selection and mark the relevant references in the 'Search Results' list by clicking Save Citation(s) on each page. If you prefer, you may also mark Select to select all items on that page 
  • After selection, click …Saved Citations
  • Select relevant items by marking
  • Click Export article citations
  • Click the option Endnote, ProCite, Reference Manager 
     [Reference Manager opens automatically]
  • In the 'File Download' window, click Open
  • Select a Reference Manager database
  • Click Open

Import using an import filter

  • Make your selection and mark the relevant references in the 'Search Results’ list by clicking Save Citation(s). If you prefer, you may also click Select to select all items on that page
  • After selection, click.. Saved citations
  • Select relevant items by marking
  • Select Export article citations 
  • Click Email Citations
  • Select the Citation Format citation manager
  • Enter your email address
  • Click Send
     [You will receive the file by email]
  • Save the file by clicking File| Save as
  • Select path and enter file name
  • Click Save

This saved text file is the one to use for importing into Reference Manager

  • Start Referent Manager
  • Open or create a database
  • Click File| Import Text File

In the 'Import Text File' window

  • Select RM database
  • Select Filter: JSTOR-tue.cap
  • Select the downloaded text file
  • Select the reference range
  • Click Import
