A number of research institutes can be found on the TU/e campus:
Institute of Biomedical Engineering Sciences & Technology / eindhoven
Research within BEST/e is focused on three major themes, each covering a coherent and well defined discipline:
Research projects frequently, if not generally, are performed across these disciplinary and departmental borders. It is the explicit objective of BEST/e to stimulate and nourish this cross disciplinary attitude among scientific staff and young scientists. This philosophy is reflected in the mission statement:
The mission of BEST/e is to be an internationally recognized research institute that offers (post)graduate programs to educate scientists and engineers for advanced biomedical research and development, who master a cross disciplinary approach.
Institute BEST/e is host of two (post-)graduate schools of the TU/e, the Graduate School BEST/e and the School of Medical Physics and Engineering SMPE/e.
Director of Institute BEST/e is Prof.dr. P.A.J. Hilbers, dean of the department of Biomedical Engineering.

The Embedded Systems Institute (ESI) is committed to extending knowledge about the design of embedded systems. It has the explicit aim of making this knowledge publicly available. The ambition of the institute is to become a leading expertise center for embedded systems design.
Research is carried out in close cooperation with industry and academia, in a so-called 'industry-as-laboratory" mode. Knowledge sharing and knowledge transfer are integrated into all activities of the ESI.
The Embedded Systems Institute is a public-private partnership that was founded in August 2002 by the universities of Delft, Eindhoven and Twente, and by ASML, Philips, Océ and TNO. However, all research projects and other activities are open to other interested parties.
Professor Ed Brinksma is scientific director of the ESI. The institute is located at the ground floor of the Laplace building.
