Bank Statement

In order to be able to study in the Netherlands it is important to make sure that you have sufficient financial means to support you throughout your study period.

The cost of living in the Netherlands is comparable to other western European countries, which means that you will need approximately 10,000 euro per year, in addition to the tuition fee.

Bank statement

If you apply to a TU/e master program after 1 February 2011, you are obliged to enclose a bank statement with your application, proving that you are able to pay the 15,000 euros required to complete the application and visa procedures.

This may be a bank statement from an account in the name of the student, but it is also possible that someone else (such as parents, employer, etc.) has agreed to pay for your master program and expenses.

If the account owner is not the student who is applying for the TU/e master program, please also send a letter stating the relationship with the student and that the bank account holder pledges to pay this amount to the TU/e once the student has been accepted on a TU/e master program.

The bank statement should give no doubts about the authenticity of the statement or the bank. It should at least mention:

  • details of the bank, including the name of the bank, address and telephone number of the bank;
  • the name of the account holder and the account number(s);
  • the exact amount of money available on the account(s) must be clearly mentioned;
  • there should be no doubt about the fact that the money is freely available.

A credit card account will not be accepted.

N.B. After admission the TU/e will only continue with arranging housing and a visa if the total amount of 15,000 euro has been received on the TU/e bank account.

Proof of scholarship
If you apply to a TU/e master program after 1 February 2011, you may also send proof that you have applied for a scholarship (other than the HSP of TSP scholarships). This would be accepted by the TU/e instead of a bank statement. The proof could be a copy of your application to the scholarship, or a letter or statement from the scholarship organisation.
