22 June, Zwarte Doos building
On Friday 22 June 2012 a symposium called “Collecting today for tomorrow” will be held in the Zwarte Doos building on the TU/e campus. Main subject will be the preservation of Academic Heritage by universities in the Netherlands.
Universities in the Netherlands and abroad are becoming increasingly interested in their cultural heritage. Items which may be considered of historic value are for example paper and audiovisual records, scientific instruments from the past, ceremonial objects etc. Some universities, mainly the older ones, have large university museums, at other institutions preservation of academic heritage is only beginning to be initiated.
The keynote speech at the symposium will be held (in Dutch) by prof.dr. Ruth Oldenziel of TU/e.
“Collecting today for tomorrow” is held by Stichting Academisch Erfgoed, the organization which promotes and coordinates preservation of heritage at academic institutions in the Netherlands.
