Medline (SciFinder Scholar) importfilter

Downloading and
saving references

  • Make your selection in SciFinder Scholar
  • Click Save As
  • Select path and file name
  • On the same screen: Save as Type: 'Tagged Format (*.txt)'
  • Click Save

The saved text file is the one to use for importing into Reference Manager

  • Start Reference Manager
  • Open or create a database
  • Click File | Import Text File

In the 'Import Text File' window:

  • Select RM database
  • Select Filter: SciFinder2007-tue.cap
  • Select the downloaded text file
  • Select the reference range
  • Click Import

At importing ignore remarque 'Unable to import' in the case of pages
<doc.type Book Chapter>
All source information (editors, book title, publisher place, publisher name) is imported in the RM field 'Book Title'

**) Import errors are caused by lack of structure and inconsistencies in one or more fields of the record in the source database.
[Hint: use the name of the source database (imported in the RM field 'Notes') and the information between <.. ..> (RM field 'RefType' and/or RM field 'Notes') to select the references in Reference Manager that possibly need editing. The information <general> means that the error can occur in all document types of the mentioned database.]
