Connect correctly
Users of mobile devices can also best log into a TU/e wireless access point (note: the Eduroam network is not considered an internal TU/e connection) or use a fixed (VPN) link via the TU/e network. The mobile device will then also be recognized by publishers as belonging to TU/e, and you may access the full text of many electronic resources. More information on the website of ICT.

How do you like the TU/e Library mobile site?
The TU/e Library mobile site is to be developed further on a permanent basis. We like to know how users using various types of smartphones and tablets appreciate this new product, so we can improve its functionalities. (directly via mobile site: Library/Contact options/Feedback and Questions)

New! Scanning functionality:
The iPhone app version 1.1.1 has been extended with a scanning functionality; iPhones and iPods fitted with cameras may now scan barcodes from the app. So-called Bookland EAN codes on the back of every book, TU/e lending barcodes, and QR codes can be scanned using the camera. QR codes are the familiar little squares which are often added to journal articles. The app will lead the user to the url or display hidden text. By scanning the regular barcode library metadata belonging to a title may be retrieved, and you can check if a book is available at the TU/e Library when you are at a bookstore or another external location.
iPhone updates are offered automatically to users who have already installed the app.

TU/e Library app for iPad

The iPad app basically shares a common functionality with the iPhone app, but it does look different. Navigating works differently too, as the iPad screen is much larger and there are more options for interaction.

Reading and saving full-text documents
The larger screen makes it more pleasant to download and read full-text documents from our collection. You can save PDFs in your own iBook collection using the iPad app.

The application is now available for free in the iTunes app store.

Searching literature with your smartphone

More and more bibliographic databases are being made accessible via your smartphone...

Some examples:

On the information pages about each database, smartphone accessibility is indicated by this icon:   Here you will also find the proper links.
Note: Select correct connection when logging in
Virtually all bibliographic databases work with ip recognition. Therefore, when you log in for on-line access or an app your request for access must come from within the TU/e network. Use a permanent (vpn) connection via TU/e, or log into the TU/e wireless network (note: the eduroam network is not considered to be an internal TU/e connection).
