Campus card for students

Starting in June, all students will receive a new student card: the TU/e campus card. This card is more than just a student card, because it also replaces the sports card and the library card. In addition, you can use the campus card to make copies and as an access card for the lockers in the MetaForum and Auditorium.

Come pick up your card!
Students who have not picked up their campus card, can get the campus card until August 10, 2012 at the service desk of the Education Students Service Centre. From August 13, 2012 you can pick up your campus card at the reception in the main building (HG). Please be sure to pick up your new card soon, because all old cards will lose their validity on August 20.

Take your ID with you when you go to pick up your new campus card!

Features of the TU/e campus card
Students can use their TU/e card as:

The same rules still apply in case of loss or theft: campus security will make a new card for you for a fee.

Parking pass and access pass will remain on current card
Students who use their current ID card as a parking pass or access pass for TU/e buildings will need to continue using it for the time being.
The new system for building access will be gradually phased in later this year and in 2013. More information on this operation will be made available later. The parking barriers will be updated to the new system last.

Transition from old to new card
The new cards will be available starting in June. As part of the transition from the old to the new cards, both varieties will be accepted as ID during the 4th-quarter exams and the interim period.
The old sports card and library card will both expire as of August 20. Until then, you will still need your old card for library loans and for entry to the sports center. Sports memberships for 2012-2013 will be added to the new campus card automatically.
As of August 20, TU/e students will only be able to use the new TU/e campus card.

If you have any other questions, please contact the Education and Student Service Center at +31 (0)40 2474747 or stu@remove-this.tue.nl.

Campus card for employees

TU/e employees will also receive a campus card. The new card replaces:

  • The sports card, with effect from August 20, 2012 (start of the 2012/2013 academic year)
  • The library card, with effect from August 20, 2012
  • Access card for buildings (to be phased in this year and in 2013, starting with MetaForum and CERES)
  • Parking pass for the TU/e campus; this will be the final phase in 2013.

The occupants of MetaForum and CERES will be the first to receive the new campus card in the months of June and July. They will be informed separately about the transition.

Given the phased implementation, all employees will temporarily have to use two cards:

  1. The new TU/e campus card
  2. The old access card. Employees who use their card for campus parking will continue to do so until late 2013.

Application procedure
The application procedure has not changed. Applications for building access and / or changes to authorization levels (both on the old and new card) must still be submitted to the contact person in your building.

Applications for campus parking access should still be submitted using the standard application form. See www.parkeren.tue.nl, click English, and then choose 'Applying for a parking pass'.

Please see the security department for a new card if yours is lost, stolen or stops working. More information is available here.

Launch of new cards
Given the phased transition from the old to the new system, employees will also receive the new campus card in phases. The Internal Affairs Division, Department of Safety & Security, is coordinating the transition. Employees will be informed about how and when they will receive the new campus card at the appropriate time.

Questions?
If you have questions regarding the distribution of the new campus card, please contact the Parking & Security desk by phone at +31 (0)40 2475065.

How to use?

The new campus card has, compared with the current access pass, a shorter read distance. This means that you must keep the campus card closer to the card reader. For example, you can no longer use the campus card at a card reader when it is in your wallet. This applies to the card readers in buildings and at the barriers.

Where and when to use?

These buildings will be equipped with an access control system to be operated with the campus card. Below you find when wich building will be adjusted.

All other buildings, equipped with access control, will not be adjusted for using the campus card. These buildings will remain their old system until they are no longer in use because of relocation or demolition.
