Arena 13.9 is available in 2 versions, a Student version and a Full version.
The Full version can be installed using the installation guide. For the student version, only steps 15 through 21 are of interest.
Full version licenses are only available for students of the courses mentioned above. The intent of the free and discounted academic software is to promote training in simulation. Academic software cannot be used to replace commercial software and/or consulting to solve commercial problems.
Commercial applications include any application where the model or results are delivered to a commercial entity.
By entering "STUDENT" as the license number during installation, the software provides nearly full modeling capabilities, but the models are limited in size and number of entities to training-sized models. This software is free and may be freely copied and installed on student or academic computer systems and computer labs, but is limited to non-commercial applications.

License information:
The university is bound to an academic license for Arena, which can be found here:

In short, the license prohibits the distribution of models made by the student to others than employees of this university. Furthermore, Arena cannot be used in projects for which the university gets compensated in any way. This includes company assignments, PDeng programs etc. The software can be used for external Master projects, but only if the thesis is public and the research questions that are answered are generic in nature. In all cases, it remains illegal to hand over any models to the company that supports the Master project.
In case the license agreement is violated by an employee or student, the faculty for which the employee is working, or the faculty at which the student is doing a project is liable for the cost of USD 30.000 per license.
