In the table above the program names are links to installation pages. On these pages you find a short description of the program, some suggestions for the installation (if appropriate) and a link to the installation program. In many cases there are also links to the installation programs of older versions.
When you click on the link to the installation program, first your browser will ask you what you want to do with that link. If you are offered the option “Open” or “Run this program from its current location”, then select that option; the installation program will now start immediately. Alternatively, save the link on your hard disk and then start the installation program by doubleclicking on this link.
License software which may not be placed on the installation server, is, in most cases, for sale at Surfspot, at a reduced price.
When it does not work...
Make sure you have logged in, otherwise you get messages like “The page cannot be displayed”.
If you are on the TU/e campus, this will not be a problem. If you are elsewhere (e.g. at home), you must in general log in through a VPN connection.
When using a VPN connection you may still encounter the problem that you cannot connect to the installation server; there is a solution for this.
Problem with removal or updating
When you try to remove or update previously installed software, in some cases you get the message that “campusfp1” (or a “network resource”) is unavailable. When you are logged in correctly, then look here for a solution.
Mozilla Firefox
When you use Firefox, or another Mozilla browser like Netscape or Flock, you get a “File not found” message after clicking on the link to an installation program. You can use the following workaround: rightclick on the link, choose “Save Link As...”, and save the shortcut, for example on the desktop. Then doubleclick on this shortcut to start the installation program. After the installation has finished you can remove the shortcut.
