On this page all conditions for services that are delivered by the Notebook Service Center (NSC) are grouped.
The opening hours of the NSC are from 8.00 until 18.00 hours, in working days only. With exception in the holidays. The opening hours then depend on the opening hours of the building, and are determined together with the library.
Software support is provided by several service desks at the university, and is only applicable during the term of validity of the Participation Agreement, and is maximized to 6,5 years.
Questions about the operating system, applications such as mail and settings to connect to the network can be asked at the Central NSC. Problems with departmental software can only be solved at the Departmental NSCís
Questions about the administrative regulations can be asked at the STU/ International Relations Office
Problems with hardware can only be reported at the Central NSC
A notebook that is acquired within the notebook regulation has a hardware support contract of a maximum of 5 years, as long as the term of the Participation Agreement is valid. During the time that a notebook is under repair the customer can obtain a spare notebook. The aim is to have the notebook of the customer repaired within 10 working days. After the customer was mailed that his notebook is repaired, he or she also has 10 days to come and pick it up. After that period rent for the spare notebook will be charged. The costs are Ä 50,00 per week, counting with complete weeks.
If a notebook needs repairs during the warranty period of the manufacturer the warranty conditions are applicable. The term of warranty can vary per model.
After the period of warranty the TU/e takes over the warranty conditions. The parts that are necessary for repairing the notebooks are obtained from notebooks that are sold back to the university by students that have stopped the education.
The repair of a notebook can in some cases take place under the conditions of the insurance company. For instance if there is liquid found in the notebook, or if there is a damage caused by a fall.
In case of theft of the notebook it, under their conditions, is possible that the Insurance company replaces the stolen notebook.
The replacement always is a similar model as the stolen one.
It is always necessary to go to the police to report the theft, and therefore a copy of an official report has to be handed in.
The Insurance expert determines if the damage is refunded on basis of the explanation on the claim form.
Sometimes the repair has to be payed for by the customer, this is the case if there is no warranty applicable, and if the Insurance company will not refund.
If a notebook is reported and the customer determines that the repair is not necessary, for instance of the costs of the repair are to high, then research costs are charged. These costs are Ä 47,60.
