IT workplace away from the campus

Dienst ICT offers a number of services that TU/e employees and
students can use to gain access to applications and information that
are available on the campus.

Email
E-mail and the calendar functionality can be used directly via the
Outlook Web Access application (https://webmail.tue.nl/). This web
application offers all the functionality of the MS Outlook Office
version, except the Personal Folders. More information can be found
here .

Access to documents and other data

When data on the campus can't be accessed via applications like
webmail and Sharepoint, the Virtual Private Networking service (VPN)
can be used. VPN makes it possible to use services that are normally
only available on campus when working elsewhere. Information on using
VPN can be found here

Communication

Eduroam (WLAN)

Eduroam (http://www.eduroam.nl) is a SURFnet initiative. With Eduroam,
you can use the Wireless network at SURFnet institutions with the
settings of your own account. To do this, you need to create a Wlan
profile called "eduroam". The information you need for this can be
found here . If you are recommended in Eduroam information to install the SecureW2 client/supplicant, it's safe to ignore this. It is possible, though,
that the network name (SSID) needs to be changed for use at a
particular institution.

OCS
OCS can also be used away from the campus. To do this, the
Communicator client needs to be configured for external access.
Information on how to do this can be found here .

Mobiel Internet.
It is also possible to access on-campus information via smartphones
and dongles. Information about this can be found here .
