Professor Mary Wheeler receives an honorary degree for her research in the fields of applied and industrial mathematics, more particularly numerical solutions to partial differential equations.

Honorary tutor is prof.dr. Rob Mattheij, professor of scientific computing at the TU/e department of Mathematics and Computer Science.

Mary Wheeler is professor of petroleum and geosystems engineering, and professor of aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics at the University of Texas at Austin. She is chairman of the SIAM Activity Group in Geoscience, Senior Scientist at the University of Houston and director of the Center for Subsurface Modeling.
