Wall tape 2001
Location: Helix, ground floor
This Swiss artist always uses industrial materials for his installations, sculptures and objects. On the one hand, Goettin works in the tradition of Minimal Art and Arte Povera, on the other hand in that of American constructivism. Indeed, Goettin studied among others with the American artist Donald Judd, who also acquired work by Goettin for his museum.
Goettin regularly makes installations of tape, most of which are temporary; he himself guarantees them for five years at least. After an analysis of the relevant space Goettin attunes his work to that specific situation. For Helix he designed an interplay of lines, which refers among other things to molecular structures.
Goettin works mainly outside the Netherlands, but is quite well-known here for the installation that he made for the Nederlandsche Bank, upon the retirement of Wim Duisenberg.
