Portraits of administrators 1961
Location: Traverse and Dorgelozaal
The Eindhoven painter Peer van den Molengraft (1922) is a classical portrait painter who has drawn and painted all his life. As a restless and adventurous boy he only lasts eighteen months at the technical school and after some wandering he eventually takes service with the painter Jan Kruysen.
That is the beginning of his painter’s career, which will take him to Algiers in 1947, where the French president sits for him. Many dignitaries will follow, which is why Van den Molengraft is also known as 'The court painter of the 20th century’. A number of former administrators of the TU/e pose for him as well: prof. dr. Gilles Holst, prof. dr. Hendrik Dorgelo, the first Rector Magnificus of the TU/e, mr. dr. Ch. J.M.A. van Rooy, mr. Kolfschoten and mr. 'sJacob.
