SBD-authorization for radiological work
Internal regulations for radiological protection at the Eindhoven University TU/e prohibit any radiological practice without prior authorization by the Radiation Protection Department SBD.
Shortly this implies that any worker or student needs to have a personal SBD-authorization for any work, handling or practice with:
- Radioactive substances or materials that contain radioactive substances;
- X-ray generators, accelerators and other equipment which produce ionizing radiations.
This rule applies for all workers and students; irrespective whether one is attached to TU/e or any other institution of company at the TU/e premises.
The objective of the system of ‘SBD-authorization for radiological work’ is to assure compliance with regulations and provisions regarding the radiation protection of workers. It concerns a.o.:
For new applications one must contact SBD early in advance, to provide sufficient time for the necessary preparations and provisions. After receipt of notification the SBD will contact the applicant for further information and arrangements. All newly registered workers must attend special sessions for instructions on radiological protection, organized by SBD.
The introduction meeting will be organized bij appointment.
It is essential for the adequate organization of radiological protection to keep the SBD registry on workers and their radiological work up-to-date. Authorized workers must therefore notify SBD on mutations in their personal particulars and of any changes about their radiological work. Revision of the SBD working permit may be needed in the case of substantial changes in your radiological working conditions. Please use the applicable e-mail form for notification.
