For three Monday nights in March, De Etalage 040 will be hosting CHEOPS Qafé, a series of debates organized by Built Environment’s study association. Goal of the evenings is to spark the public debate in Eindhoven. The umbrella theme is Selfishness in construction.

No cash for your sandwich or bowl of soup? From early March, TU/e cafeterias will allow payment by debit card. Yesterday, Eurest catering ordered all payment devices to accept this third method of payments as well, next to chip and cash.

Dr. Nicole Ummelen has been appointed TU/e’s new secretary. The Executive Board published the news today. Ummelen (1968) used to work at the University of Amsterdam as director of Academic Affairs. On June 16, she’ll be succeeding ir. Harry Roumen, who’ll be retiring.

The cafeteria in the Auditorium will be closed for maintenance in the week of carnival. The cafeteria at the department of Mathematics and Computer Science (W&I) on the eighth floor of the Hoofdgebouw will be open for business as usual.

Four out of seven nominees for the Shell Bachelor Master contest finals that are being held at TU/e on February 14 are from TU/e. They are Jelmer van de Wiel and Martijn van Zanten or the Bachelor Prize, and Serkan Esiner and Thomas Vranken for the Master Prize.
